Oh my gosh people, be nice to your waiter/waitress, it’s not their fault that your food is cold or if it’s under cooked.  Be nice to the cashiers who are still training and can’t ring up your items as quickly as you want.  If a stranger smiles and says hello to you, smile and say hello back!  It’s just common courtesy, I don’t understand why people have to be so rude.

Ugh this! I know i have this rant all the time, but it’s important! Do people not realise that one dick move can just absolutely ruin someone’s day? I’ve been in the best mood at work until just one customer has been horrible and it’s just ruined the rest of the shift for me.

On the other hand, i was making coffees at work the other day and falling a bit behind cause it was ridiculously busy, then when i was giving one lady her coffees and she said “thank you, you’re doing a really good job! Have a good day” and it just made me feel 10000000 times better! And you know what? it probably made me work better cause i wasn’t feeling all flustered cause i annoyed someone!

Moral of the story, your actions can completely change the course of someone’s day, so be nice and maybe you could change it for the better!

So my uni group assessment is to write out a full event plan for a fictional event of your choice. My group chose to do a folk festival (win) but we’re really getting it done now and i jut created the program and fuck i want this festival to actually happen now…it’s amazing!!!

It’s happening at Cockatoo Island in sydney, it’s going to be all-australian in december (as part of aus music month) and the bands include angus stone, boy & bear, the seekers, and this massive basement birds/bob dylan tribute thing at the end lead by bob evans and the wow factor (cause our teacher will eat that shit up, and we need to differ ourselves from other festivals) is going to be that group and then to bring up all the acts to perform a song at the end (gentlemen of the road style) ugh i really really want this to actually happen!!!!!

We’re also having this jamming tent so people can bring their instruments and just play together, and there’s going to be appearances by different musicians throughout the day.

aslkdjsjldkjsdlksjdlkajsd i should really stop fangirling over it and get it done cause it’s due in a week…

So i’ve somehow become the folk music snob in my uni group. Yes i love the music and all, but I’m no traditionalist or claim to know a shit tonne about it. So my uni friend goes to me today:

“Maddie - are Of Monsters cool these days or sell outs in the folk scene?”

Now he’s taking the piss, and it’s not that i’m offended at all (it’s quite funny really), but apart from mentioning a couple of concerts i really don’t know how i gave this impression.

The best part…he’s the one who mentioned Bob Dylan twice today, and told us all we should go to folk club (a weekly music night thing in sydney) haha
